A lot of people email me every year asking if it is possible to get married in the naturist resort at Cap d’Agde, so let me answer that question here.
Marrying in the resort is possible, but it can be overly complex to organize in dealing with the French services, if you are not familiar with French etiquette and if you do not speak French.
Who exactly you would need to ask in the resort is also unclear.
My understanding is that you would have to get permission from the local major. (It will be great if any of you with a clearer answer can add your comments on this post at the bottom).
You would also not be able to film or take photographs of the wedding, because this would raise too many objections from those people staying in the resort.
One thing I have met several people doing is taking a holiday in the naturist resort for their honeymoon.
Over the years, I have met many people who wanted to do something different and unique for their honeymoon and where better than Cap?
Another common question worth answering here is what to do when it rains and is too cold here.
Certainly, there is no guarantee of great weather, even in the South of France in the summertime and, when on a holiday or vacation which depends quite heavily on it being warm, what can you do?
The good news is that, even if the weather turns bad i.e. if there is a downpour, it usually only happens for an hour or two and then it will usually clear up and the sun is back, at least if you are in the resort in July or August.
If you visit the resort in May or September when the weather is more likely to be variable and is a bit more of a gamble.
If you are caught up in bad weather whilst at Cap d’Agde, what can you do? Well, there is still plenty to do and some good options at that.
There are a couple of saunas within the naturist resort and, if the weather is bad, this is a great option for keeping warm, naked, and having some holiday fun.
2 &2 Sauna Hammam in the Heliopolis block, is a sauna that is for couples only and which is open from early afternoon, through to around 1 to 2 in the morning.
The sauna has a small bar and dance floor area and also has a connecting door to the sauna next door.
2&2 is a couples-only sauna and couples can go to the adjoining sauna, whilst single men can only stay in the sauna next door.
In bad weather, it can be the perfect time to get to see the town of Agde but with your clothes on.
The naturist resort is in one small corner of the town and there is plenty to explore in Agde itself.
Agde Marina (not to be confused with the small marina in the naturist area) is a lovely area to walk around and is a very good area for restaurants and also, if you enjoy playing Poker or having a flutter, is where Agde Casino is located.
If you catch the right day, you can also visit the local Agde town market or you might (if you have a car) want to explore the nearby town of Sete, or even visit a vineyard in the Languedoc area.
There is plenty to do if you find that you hit a few days of bad weather in the naturist resort but there is no need to panic.
