Before you all start writing in or adding comments at the bottom to tell me that you manage to stay in the village for half the costs or you pay double because you choose a luxury room in one of the hotels such as Natureva Spa, or you pay much less because you have a permanent spot in the campsite, the costs below are an example based on my own trips.
How much it costs to visit the resort and what budget is needed is a question I get asked very often and it is really a difficult one to answer because the resort offers such a variety of accommodation types, restaurants, and add-ons.
Many stay in apartments in the resort and this affords you the option to save a lot of money by cooking yourself.
If you have a car, doing a big shop in one of the massive supermarkets off-site can save you a significant amount of money.
Some of you will only want to eat out and treat it as a holiday away from home, away from dishes, cooking, and shopping for food. So the options and potential costs are infinite.
So let this post below just be a rough guide for those unfamiliar with the resort. It would be great though to get your comments on the bottom of this post!
Without question, it very much depends on where you are coming from, suffice to say that you need to factor in the cost of the flights, transfers to the resort (the closest airport is Beziers International Airport).
The main consideration is whether or not to drive to the resort. This is a particularly good option if you are planning to stay in the campsite (which is based within the naturist resort) and to stay for more than say 10 days.
Driving down to the resort, if you are traveling from the UK, Italy, or from an equally long distance, can be tiring.
Cost-wise, if you are able to bring everything you will possibly need such as deckchairs, an ice-box and everything else you will need on the campsite, this can reduce the cost of things you might otherwise end up buying when down there.
So, consider driving if you are staying at the campsite and staying for a long time.
An excellent option, if you do not like driving and have no interest in driving, is to use the SNCF and to get the train down to the resort.
Do not forget to enter “Agde” as the local station for Cap d’Agde. Cap d’Agde will not show as a station.
If you are flying into an airport such as Montpellier, Toulouse or Carcassonne, you can use the Cap d’Agde airport transfer services run by Camel!
Budget around 80 Euros return for a van from Montpellier and around Euros 50 return between Beziers airport and Cap d’Agde.
Car rental hire is an option but, if you plan to stay within the enclosure of the resort for the duration of your stay, then you might find that there is little point in renting a car. You can get an airport transfer from any of the local airports.
Where to start? If you want to stay in the cheapest and most economical way possible in the resort, then the campsite is where you need to stay and in a tent. The campsite also has chalets, which can be rented, in addition to mobile homes which can be rented.
If, in the long term, you want to stay in the resort all season, then the cheapest option becomes to buy a permanent mobile home in the campsite.
You have to buy the mobile home through Rene Oltra and, if you ever want to re-sell the unit, you must also sell it through them.
The higher-end type of cost you can expect to pay in the campsite if money is no issue (in which case you probably won’t be reading this post anyway) can go as high as Euros 520 a night to stay in the ‘Le Pearl Luxury Cottages’ in the campsite.
This option includes your own golf cart, hot tub, and butler service.
Apartments are the most common way of staying in the resort and can range from Euros 85 a night through to Euros 150 on average
Many people like to rent sunbeds on the beach.
There are three main different companies offering sunbed rentals and waiter service for drinks and food, brought to your chair.
The costs tend to be around an average of Euros 25 a day. From past experience, they never seem to be willing to negotiate.
If you want a good position every day, then it can be worth paying in advance for the week although, if you do not use your chair for a day such as because of inclement weather, they seem not willing to refund you, so be warned.
The options are infinite, dependent on the lifestyle you wish to lead during your stay. There are some tips though that I have for reducing your cost.
My wife and I budget for Euros 50 a day and it never works! We average Euros 100 a day and no matter how hard we try, it always comes out to a 100 average.
This does include eating out a few times such as in Le Gymnos and having a few drinks every day in Johnny Wokkers bar!
There are a few bank machines (ATMs/cash points) inside the naturist resort, so you should have no problems withdrawing money from your bank or credit card if you need to.
There is a cash machine (ATM) in the Port Ambonne block near to the shopping area, and there is also a cash machine on the main strip leading to the beach and also one next to the petrol (gas) station in the resort.
The good thing about taking money out this way is that you will be taking out Euros, the local currency.
