10 Tips for Reducing the Cost of a Holiday at Cap d’Agde

Last Updated on November 15, 2023

If you are planning a trip to the resort at Cap d’Agde, you might still want to keep your budget to one which is affordable and cheaper, whilst still getting the most out of your holiday here.

Money saving tips for a cheaper naturist holiday in Cap d'Agde

There are many ways to visit the village and still have a fantastic time and experience, whilst not breaking the bank. My ten tips are below for how to save money when visiting Cap d’Agde.

1. Stay in the Campsite in Cap d’Agde and Experience the Real Naturist Experience

If you want to stay in the most cost-effective accommodation then the campsite is your best option.

Rather than paying Euros 150 a night for an apartment, for example, you can use your car (if you are driving) and stick up a massive tent.

Electricity and water supply are included in the camp spot fees and for Euros 30 to 50 (depending on what month you are staying) you can stay in one of the large camp spots.

The hotel rooms (such as in Natureva Spa) can cost from around Euros 175 a night, perfect for those of you looking for a luxury stay, not so good for those looking for a cheaper stay.

To book for the campsite you have to go to the official Rene Oltra site here as they manage the campsite inside the resort.

2. Greatly Reduce your Food Costs

If you are at the resort with your car then take an hour to drive out the local HyperMarket (you will see it as you are driving into the resort) and you can literally get some things half the price that you will pay in the stores in the resort.

You will also find that you have a vast range of products to choose from including the chance to get bottles of wines and stubbie beers for next to nothing.

3. Drink Wine and not Beer

France, of course, is a wine country and the south of France including the Languedoc area produce some fantastic wines and these wines are very cheap to buy.

The bars in the resort make quite good profits on the wines so you can imagine how cheap it is if you buy it from a large supermarket.

On this holiday, consider being a wine drinker and not a beer drinker.

Just for a few weeks, why not use it as a chance to appreciate the fine local wines.

4. Use an Incognito Window When Booking Flights to Beziers and Montpellier

I have to be 100% upfront and admit that I am not completely sure either way as to if airlines, train companies, and other transportation providers do or do not charge different rates according to the cookies (data collected) from your visit habits and a number of visits to their site.

One way though to avoid the data being collected and thus give yourself a better chance to get the cheaper fares, is to use what is called an ‘incognito window’.

If you are using Google Chrome as your web browser, go to the top right (see image below) and select ‘New Incognito Window‘. Now when you browse the internet and such for fares, your search data will not be stored.

5. Learn some French

Learning and attempting to speak a few words of French can make a huge difference given how passionate French people are about their language.

Even if you can speak only a few very basic words, you have a much greater chance to get a better deal such as if you wish to try and negotiate a special rate with the sun-bed rentals people on the beach, if you are staying for more than a week.

Here are some useful resources to learn french for FREE online:

6. Travel Times

The rates for stays in June and parts of July can be cheaper i.e. the second half of July and August incur the highest rates in hotels such as Hotel Eve and Natureva Spa.

The second half of June or the start of July can still be a great time to visit and more often than not it will already be hot enough here.

7. Plastic Containers

What my wife and I always tend to do is to have a couple of plastic lunch boxes which we then fill with sliced-up fruit.

We then take this onto the beach for a cheap but very refreshing afternoon bite whilst sitting on the beach. Avoid the very expensive and over-priced food from the sun-lounger rental places unless you are not worried about money.

8. Share Accommodation

Sharing accommodation costs is another option given that the cost of a stay in Cap is not always so cheap.

The accommodation one might fairly argue is over-priced for what you get.

There is the demand and this means that the hotels and apartment owners tend to charge what they wish to – although it is also true that the core season only runs for roughly 10 weeks a year and the owners thus have to monetize those core weeks.

You can share an apartment but will need to organize it yourself and for most visitors, sharing with a stranger is not a practical choice. You can use the forum on this site to talk with others about sharing.

9. Menu of the Day

Similar to in many Mediterranean locations, some of the restaurants here offer a menu of the day which I believe they call ‘menu du jour’ in French (please feel free to correct me. You can usually get a main course and a starter (or dessert) and a drink for a very reasonable price.

10. Fly into Beziers

Beziers Airport is the closest airport to the resort and even if you get a taxi direct from the airport to the resort, it will still work out a lot cheaper than if you fly into any other airport in the region.

Unfortunately, flight options are limited for now.
